You can watch selected Panoramas of this website also in virtual reality (VR) as virtual tours, some of them even in sterographic 3D view.
Unfortunatelly the effect cannot be generated at the display of a desktop PC or laptop. It is only possible with a smartphone together with a so called VR-headset.
When you insert a smartphone into a VR-headset the smartphone is simply used as a display device. The smartphone receives the image data from the internet without any cables. It shows a split screen, one for the left eye and one for the right eye.
The VR-headset takes care, that the left and right eye get only their dedicated image.
When you turn your head with your VR-headset fitted left/right, up/down, the sensors of your smartphone will detect your movements and show you the 3-dimensional space around you and gives you a virtual feeling.
For experimental use a low cost cardboard box is available from Google (Google Cardboard). You do not need a professional VR headset.
